What is C/W MARS?

C/W MARS stands for Central-Western Mass Automated Resource Sharing.  Their goal is to provide efficient sharing of resources and rapid access to information among its member libraries.  C/W MARS has over 140 member libraries with a combined collection of more than 6 million items.  C/W MARS has a shared online computer system that allows for searching not only the Millbury Library card catalog but the collections of the other member libraries as well.

What does this mean for me?

It means that from any internet connected computer, patrons can search the Millbury Library collection for materials of interest.  If they can't find what they are looking for in the Millbury collection, they can then search the collection of the other member libraries.  If they find what they are looking for, using their C/W MARS library card, they can order it through interlibrary loan.  When the materials come in, the Millbury library staff will notify them that they can pick up their materials at the Millbury Library.  What could be more convenient than that?

In order to use this system, you will need a C/W MARS card which will give you access to this and many other libraries in the area, all on one account.  If you do not have a C/W MARS card yet, please ask a staff member about setting one up.  See below for the new rules and information that will now apply to the Millbury Public Library.
